Another UHV DC transmission project started!

On 15 March, State Grid Corporation of China Limited Shanbei-Anhui ± 800 kV UHV DC Transmission Project and Yuexi Pumped Storage Power Station (hereinafter referred to as "Shaanbei-Anhui UHV Project" and "Yuexi Pumped Storage Power Station") commenced construction. ") were started. The commencement of construction of the two projects is of great significance to ensure the safe and reliable supply of electricity in China, accelerate the construction of a new type of energy system, realise the goal of carbon peak and carbon neutrality, and promote high-quality development.

It is reported that Shaanxi - Anhui UHV project rated voltage ± 800 kV, rated capacity of 8 million kilowatts, dynamic investment of 20.5 billion yuan. The project starts from Baotashan converter station in Yan'an City, Shaanxi Province, and ends at Hezhou converter station in Hefei City, Anhui Province, passing through Shaanxi, Henan and Anhui Provinces, with a total length of 1,069 kilometres of DC lines. The sending end will gather photovoltaic, wind power and energy-saving thermal power from Shaanxi with 750kV AC system, and the receiving end will be connected to the load centre of Anhui. Yuexi Pumping and Storage Power Station is located in the territory of Huangwei Town, Yuexi County, Anhui Province, installing four 300,000 kW reversible units, with two 500 kV outlets to access the East China Power Grid, with a dynamic investment of 7.5 billion yuan. After the two projects are completed and put into operation, it can improve the power surplus and shortage mutual aid, time and space complementary, multi-energy interchangeability, achieve a wider optimal allocation of electric power resources, better guarantee the safe and stable operation of the power grid, and effectively help the construction of the national unified big market and modern infrastructure system, and promote the urban and rural and regional co-ordinated development.

Shaanbei-Anhui extra-high voltage project, Yuexi pumped storage power station two projects started construction, is to promote the green transformation of energy, service carbon peak carbon neutral goal of the important deployment. Shaanbei-Anhui UHV project send end access supporting new energy 11 million kilowatts, can promote the large-scale development and utilisation of clean energy in Shaanxi, optimise the structure of energy supply in Anhui, and enhance the proportion of green power consumption. The construction of Yuexi pumped storage power station will serve the construction of Anhui intelligent and green manufacturing province and help Anhui to build a 10 million kilowatt green energy storage base in Yangtze River Delta. After the two projects are put into operation, it can promote new energy power consumption of more than 18 billion kWh per year, replace coal consumption of 6.3 million tonnes, reduce carbon dioxide emissions of 16.6 million tonnes, with significant energy saving and emission reduction benefits.

At present, State Grid has completed a total of 35 UHV projects, and the network structure in the operation area is constantly optimised, providing strong network support for the development of various types of clean energy, and playing an important role in guaranteeing the safe and reliable supply of electric power, and promoting green and low-carbon development.
